Miss You Tons Card

These elephants from Lawn Fawn are so adorable (S/LF). They were easy to color since they are shades of grey. They were not as easy to fussy cut out, and now I wish I had the matching dies, LOL (S/LF).

The rest of the steps for making this card are:

PIck a green lawn-like shade of patterned paper. I chose a paper from Dear Lizzy's Star Gazer 6x6 paper pad. Trim it down to 1 1/2" and then cut a sloped shape for the hill. I used the curved die from Jillian Vance's Elegant Edges Die Set (JV).

Pick a sky-like paper for the rest of the scene. I used a sheet from Recollections' Color Splash 6x6" paper pad. Line up your circle die on top of the sky paper where you will want it cut. I used a circle die from Tim Holtz's Stitched Circles Die Set (S). Use temporary adhesive to attach the lawn piece where you want it to be in the circle. Die cut both the sky and lawn pieces at the same time so the stiches will line up. Use permanent adhesive to attach the lawn piece to the sky circle.

I shopped my stash for the dark grey background paper. I loved that it had some numbers on it, since I knew I was going to stamp a sentiment about tons. I cut the paper down to 4 1/8 x 5 3/8". I adhered that to a light grey A2 card. Attach the sky/lawn circle near the top of the card.

I created the sentiment strip and learned an important lesson. First I stamped my sentiment on white cardstock. Then I decided it should be light grey instead of white. I used #485 grey from my nuvo alcohol markers to color it. That smeared my sentiment even after I had heat set it. I experimented and tried coloring with the grey alcohol marker first before stamping. That worked! I was able to stamp the sentiment after coloring it with no smearing.

The sentiment was made with two stamp sets. The 'Miss You' came from Our Daily Bread Designs' Mini Tag Sentiments set. (ODB). The 'tons' came from Lawn Fawn's Love You Tons stamp set. I cut it out with a flag die from the Paper Cut's Flags Layering Die Set (PC). I adhered it to the bottom left of the card.

To finish the card I stamped the elephants on grey craft foam and fussy cut those inside the stamped line.

I glued my stamped/colored elephants to the grey foam and then glued those to the card.

Now that I've used the elephants and glow in the dark light bulb on cards I'm trying to think of a way to turn the winter alpaca into a summer alpaca!

Blessings,

Julie
