Glow-in-the-Dark Square Card

I'm having so much fun with my new Lawn Fawn glow-in-the-dark embossing powder (S/LF). It does actually glow in the dark. It's a super fine powder and embossed the words quite nicely.

I die cut a piece of black paper with the 3 1/2" die from my Tim Holtz/Sizzix Stitched Squares die set (S). I cut a 3 5/8" square piece of yellow paper and a 3 7/8" square piece of black/grey patterned paper. I cut a piece of white card stock to 3 7/8" x 7 3/4" and scored it at 3 7/8"

The lightbulb (S/LF) was made by first stamping in black ink and then coloring with my nuvo markers, yellow #403 (S), and silver #505 (S). Next, I used my Ranger Perfect Medium pen (S) to color in the yellow bulb area and emboss with the glow-in-the-dark powder. Then I fussy cut the bulb, and discovered I need the matching dies (S/LF). I had to add black marker to the top edge after I cut most of that off!! Oops, another embellishment opportunity!

I stamped and embossed the sentiment with Versamark Ink (S) and Ranger Seafoam White embossing powder. Because the glow-in-the-dark powder is translucent, I knew I had to emboss first with an opaque powder for the sentiment to be seen in the light. Next I stamped over the embossed sentiment with Versamark and glow-in-the-dark embossing powder.

I adhered all the papers together and adhered those to my card base. Then I used a pop-up glue dot for the lightbulb and adhered that to the card. I like the card in the light, but am really thrilled with the results when it glows in the dark.

I just realized I need to make an envelope for this custom sized card!

May your light shine,

Julie
