Love and Grace Scripture Cards

I have two verse stamps that were my starting inspiration for these cards. I was planning on using the stamped verses on the outside. As I decided which papers to use I ended up with an entirely different idea.
For the top layer of each card base, I used papers from the lovely BoBunny Faith Collection 6 x 6 paper pad (S).

I cut the words out of two more sheets from the collection. I used my new Scan n Cut. I received it as a Christmas gift this year. Right now I have a love/hate relationship with the machine. I love it when it works the way I want it to!

In this case, it worked perfectly. I cut the words from patterned papers and plain cardstock. I cut each word several times from the plain cardstock. For dimension, I glued each layer together. I used a font from the Patterns included in the Scan n Cut. I 'love' the way the letters turned out ;-).

Next, I die cut the heart from inked cardstock. I created the custom cardstock with distress oxide inks.
When I inked the cardstock several months ago, my original plan was to use it for stamped sentiments.

I used my Tim Holtz Tattered Florals die to make the flower (S/MP). I used three more papers from the paper pad. I also supplemented layers to the flower with the same blue cardstock I used on the base of the 'Grace' card.

Originally the dark pink layer was a lighter pink. I thought it would have enough contrast. It wasn't quite dark enough so I used Seedless Preserves Distress Ink to get it just the right shade (S/MP/MMI).
I topped the flower with a brad from my stash. It's from a Crate Paper brad set my younger sister gave me years ago.

My tip to conserve paper: I cut the heart from the middle of the paper. Then I adhered the love one another/heart patterned paper on top of what was left. Here is a view from the back after I adhered the two base layers together. Now that the card is assembled, no one can tell that there is a missing section from the bottom layer of the base! The cutout is what made the pale pink paper layer of the heart die cut.

My inspiration stamps are both from Rubbernecker Stamps (R). Their stamps are red rubber cling, which is my favorite. While I like being able to see exactly where I am putting a clear stamp, I prefer to use a red rubber stamp. I also like the price of Rubbernecker verse stamps. I have slowly been adding to my collection of them.
It's easier to match papers when they come from the same paper pad. I ended up using pieces from seven of the papers from the Faith collection. I think that's pretty good! I still have plenty left for other projects too.
Blessings,
Julie
